Interactive Media
Knowledge aims to support independent filmmakers who are looking to access the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and we encourage you to explore new channels and platforms for creative collaboration and storytelling.
The new CMF guidelines for the Performance Envelope Program within the Convergent Stream present opportunities for independent filmmakers to collaborate with new media producers to extend and enrich their stories.
If you are applying for CMF funding with “rich and substantial” digital media content, we recommend that you partner with a new media producer(s) for inspiration, development and execution. Such partnerships should improve your funding proposal and, more importantly, help you create a meaningful experience with rich media.
During early discussions about projects with cross-platform components, Knowledge will request you submit a concept and budget. Before making a financial commitment, however, we will require a more detailed proposal that soundly demonstrates the feasibility of your new media component in terms of concept, design, technology, development, distribution, marketing, and financing.
Below, we have outlined the details we would ultimately expect to see in proposals with rich digital media components. If you have questions or would like to discuss your proposal at any stage, please get in touch with us. We’re here to help.
If you have ideas for the Knowledge corporate or kids website (without a television component), please contact Knowledge Interactive.
Knowledge appreciates that some documentaries may not lend themselves to an interactive experience, and we will continue accepting proposals that meet the CMF’s “basic” digital media content requirements (3.2DM).
*NOTE: The Bell Fund has published some good tips for collaborations and success in cross-media projects.
