The mission of the Earth Rangers is "to inspire within children a lifelong passion to improve the environment." In A Sustainable Future, we see their mission take concrete form in the construction of the $23 million Earth Rangers Centre north of Toronto. Planned as a model of sustainable development, the new centre houses a wildlife hospital capable of handling 5,000 animals per year, a theatre and interactive displays for visitors and student tours, Canada's only oil spill response unit for rescuing wildlife, and a world-class veterinary training and research hospital. The documentary also examines the sustainable development movement and Canadian efforts to meet sustainable building goals.
