Mail delivery services at Canada Post resumed on Tuesday, December 17, 2024

Like most charities, soliciting and receiving donations through the mail remains a core part of our fundraising activities here at Knowledge. We have experienced a notable and concerning decline in donations since mail delivery stopped.

Due to the extended nature of the postal service disruption, we anticipate it will take several weeks for the backlog of mail to be delivered and for the service to return to normal delivery times. We will continue to liaise with Canada Post on their progress in meeting normal delivery standards.

We thank all the Knowledge Partners who so diligently continued their financial support of Knowledge online or by phone or by monthly giving. We are so grateful for our loyal supporters and for those who will now resume support by mail.

K: Magazine Delivery

If you do not yet have a paper copy of the November/December issue of K: Magazine, we don’t anticipate that you will receive one before January due to the backlog of mail at Canada Post. We can send you a digital link to this issue by email if you contact us (info below).

The January/February 2025 issue of K: Magazine is printed and ready to go and will be shipped to Canada Post immediately.

All current Knowledge Partners who have provided us with their email address should have received a digital link to the January/February 2025 issue of K: Magazine on December 15th. Please check your junk/spam folders if you did not receive it.

We will continue to make digital links to the January/February issue of K: Magazine available to new or renewed eligible Knowledge Partners who don’t yet have it.

If you would like digital access to this issue while you wait for the paper copy to be delivered, please contact us as outlined below and provide your full name, partner number (if known), phone number and your email address.

Due to the delays, we will not be putting duplicate copies of K: Magazine in the mail until Canada Post confirms the backlog of mail is cleared.

Mail Solicitations (Delayed) from Knowledge

At the time of the postal service disruption in mid-November, we had a number of mail solicitations already en route to Canada Post. Those solicitations will be delivered to homes in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, many Partners may have already sent renewal or additional gift donations to us online or by phone. If so, kindly disregard those solicitations and accept our sincerest thanks for your continued support.

Donations “Stuck” in the Mail

Some of you may have mailed a donation in early or mid-November that was not received by us at that time and will be delivered to us in the weeks ahead. Additionally, some of you may have subsequently made a phone or online donation instead. We will do our best to watch for duplicate donations as we process the delayed mail. If you have any concerns about this, please get in touch with us and we will resolve any issues with duplicated donations.

Special Offers (Thank You Gifts)

We have continued to package up Special Offers and send them to our mail house during the strike. Those packages will be in the mail immediately but please allow several weeks for delivery due to the backlog.

Tax Receipts

For single gift donations:

Most donation tax receipts were emailed to Partners shortly after their donation. We are preparing paper tax receipts right away for those single gift donations that require them. Please allow several weeks for delivery due to the backlog of mail. Providing us with an email address when you make your donation is the best way to ensure you receive a tax receipt in a timely manner.

We will not be mailing duplicate tax receipts until Canada Post confirms the backlog of mail is cleared.

For monthly donations:

Per CRA regulations, we are required to issue 2024 tax receipts by February 28, 2025.

We do our best to prepare them and mail them as early as possible but will not be issuing duplicates until mid-March 2025.
