Knowledge Network Corporation (“we” or the “Knowledge Network”) is glad to provide you with streaming services on Knowledge Network's streaming platform(s) (the “Platform”), subject to these Streaming Terms and Conditions (the “Streaming Terms and Conditions”).
Acceptance of the Streaming Terms and Conditions
By subscribing to the Platform, you confirm your acceptance of the Streaming Terms and Conditions, as we may amend or update from time to time. Except for any terms related to any subscription fee, we may add to, modify or delete the Streaming Terms and Conditions at any time, without notice. Because of this, we strongly encourage you to regularly review the Streaming Terms and Conditions.
We do not currently charge a subscription fee, however, any changes to this policy may take effect automatically, subject to thirty (30) days' notice to you.
You may reject the Streaming Terms and Conditions upon thirty (30) days' notice by cancelling your subscription to the Platform.
Service
How may I use the Platform's content?
The Platform's Content (as defined below in the Privacy and Personal Information section below) is intended for personal, non-commercial use, and may not be used for public performances. When you subscribe to the Platform, we grant you a temporary, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence (the “Licence”) to view and navigate the Platform's Content. The Licence terminates upon the termination of your subscription to the Platform.
What can I expect from the viewing experience?
- Content: We strive to provide our subscribers with a variety of high-quality content; however, we cannot always guarantee the availability and consistency of the Platform's Content for all subscribers. The Platform and its Content are intended to be accessed within British Columbia and some or all of the Platform's Content may be unavailable to subscribers located outside of British Columbia. You should be aware that Knowledge Network may, at its discretion, add, remove or restrict access to the Platform's Content at any time.
- Quality of Service: The quality of viewing may vary from one device to another based on factors such as your location, bandwidth and internet speed. Knowledge Network makes no guarantee or warranty as to the quality of the viewing experience on your device. Internet access and bandwidth are your sole responsibility.
Is the Platform suitable for children and students?
This Platform may contain certain content that is inappropriate or ill-suited for children. For this reason, we strongly encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children's use of the Platform.
Individuals under the age of nineteen (19) may not use the Platform unless their parent or guardian accepts the Streaming Terms and Conditions on their behalf. Teachers or other authorized school officials directing students under the age of nineteen (19) to access the Platform as part of student coursework will be deemed the guardians of such students for the purpose of agreeing to the Streaming Terms and Conditions.
Donations
Is there a subscription fee?
We do not charge a subscription fee; however, donations are always welcome. To make a donation to Knowledge Network, please visit our Donations Page. Donations are processed by a third party PCI Level 1-compliant payment processor. Knowledge Network is not liable for any damages or losses resulting from any data breach, negligence or misconduct of such third party companies.
Your Account
You must create an account (your “Account”) in order to subscribe to the Platform. If you choose to create an Account, you confirm that you are nineteen (19) years of age or older and you agree to ensure that the Personal Information (defined below) linked to your Account is accurate and up to date at all times.
You are responsible for the confidentiality of your Account login information, and you agree not to access, or attempt to access, an account that is not held under your name without the accountholder's permission. By allowing others to access your Account, you agree that such individuals are acting on your behalf and that you are bound by any changes that they may make to your Account. By allowing individuals under the age of nineteen (19) to use your Account, you are accepting the Streaming Terms and Conditions on their behalf and you agree to supervise their use of the Platform. Please notify Knowledge Network as soon as possible at info@knowledge.ca or 604.431.3222 if you discover or suspect any unauthorized use of your Account. Knowledge Network, in its sole discretion, may deny you access to your Account for any reason, including, but not limited to, breach of the Streaming Terms and Conditions.
Privacy and Personal Information
Knowledge Network is committed to protecting your privacy and Personal Information (as defined below). As a public body, we may collect, use and/or disclose your Personal Information in accordance with the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and we only collect Personal Information which relates directly to, and is necessary for the administration of, our programs and activities, including the Platform.
“Personal Information” means any information which may be unique to, or which may be used to identify, an individual. Examples of Personal Information include, but are not limited to: your name; your address; your birth date; your e-mail address; your phone number; your viewing history and habits; your credit card information; and your Internet Protocol (IP) address.
What do we do with your Personal Information?
We maintain server logs, web logs, and other industry-standard technologies which automatically collect your Personal Information.
Except for the limited circumstances outlined below, we only use the Personal Information that we collect to deliver Knowledge Network's public broadcasting service and fundraising programs. For example, we may use your Personal Information to (a) respond to your enquiries, (b) process your donations, (c) notify you about our programs, events and fundraising initiatives, (d) improve your streaming experience and perform maintenance on the Platform, (e) to better deliver advertisement based on your use of the Platform, (f) determine the availability of content or service in your region, and/or (g) conduct internal analysis for management purposes (e.g. generate geographic-related statistics) but we will NOT sell, rent, trade or freely distribute your Personal Information.
In limited circumstances of criminal activity or other malfeasance, or where necessary to protect the security and integrity of our Platform, we may share your Personal Information with appropriate investigative bodies who may use it to trace and identify individuals.
Does the Platform use “cookies”?
The Platform uses “cookies” and/or other industry-standard technologies that install information on your computer to track how you use the Platform. If your browser allows, you may choose to decline “cookies”, but doing so may affect your ability to access certain features of the Platform.
How do you keep my Personal Information safe?
We use technical and administrative security measures and controls (collectively, our “Personal Information Safeguards”) to safeguard the Personal Information that we collect. Roles, permissions and access controls are in place so that Knowledge Network employees and contractors are only granted access to the Personal Information that they require to perform their job duties or carryout their services. Additionally, any credit card information you provide us will be sent directly to a PCI Level 1-compliant payment processor for processing.
Our Personal Information Safeguards are reviewed regularly, as industry standards for data protection and network security evolve.
We take the responsibility of protecting your Personal Information very seriously, however Knowledge Network, its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, representatives, board members, employees and their successors, licensees and assigns are not responsible for any damages resulting from any data breach, or the negligence or misconduct of third parties.
How do I consent to Knowledge Network's collection, retention and use of my Personal Information?
Your use of the Platform confirms your receipt and acceptance of the terms of Privacy and Personal Information section, including those related to our collection, retention and use of your Personal Information.

Ownership of Content
Knowledge Network owns or licences all of the content on the Platform, including but not limited to the audio-visual productions, text, graphics, photographs, images, illustrations, audio recordings, HTML and software (collectively, the “Content”). In addition, Knowledge Network or other entities own all trademarks, trade names, logos, designs and service marks (collectively, the “Marks”) referenced or featured on the Platform.
Accessing the Platform does not give you an ownership interest in the Content or the Marks. In other words, your unauthorized use of the Content or Marks may violate copyright, trademark and other laws.
Limitation of Liability
While we consistently strive to provide a positive user experience, we cannot always guarantee that the Platform will run seamlessly.
By continuing to use the Platform, you confirm that you understand and agree that:
- Knowledge Network is not liable for any loss or damage arising out of the unauthorized use of your Account;
- Knowledge Network is not liable for the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of any third party;
- The content available on the Platform may vary depending on where you are located, and Knowledge Network does not guarantee that all of the Platform's content will be available worldwide or in Canadian provinces and territories outside of British Columbia; and
- Knowledge Network is not liable for any loss of use, loss of data, loss of opportunity, loss of income or profit, loss of or damage to property or data, or for any damages of any kind or character arising out of or in any way connected with the use of, or the delay in use or inability to use, the Platform, the contents of the Platform or any website or contents linked to the Platform, even if Knowledge Network has been advised of the possibility of such damages or losses.
Indemnity and Release
By using the Platform you agree to indemnify Knowledge Network and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, volunteers and employees and hold them harmless from any and all loss, liability, damages, claims and expenses, including legal fees, arising from your violation of these Terms of Use, your use of the Platform, and/or your breach or alleged breach of the copyright, trade-mark, proprietary or other rights of Knowledge Network or third parties.
By accessing the Platform you are agreeing to release Knowledge Network and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, volunteers and employees from any and all claims, demands, debts, obligations, damages (actual or consequential), costs and expenses of any kind or nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, disclosed or undisclosed, that you may have against them arising out of or in any way related to your use of the Platform or the products or services offered at or associated with the Platform.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Streaming Terms and Conditions, your use of the Platform, and all related matters are governed solely by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to what are known as the conflicts of law provisions of a jurisdiction. You hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of British Columbia in connection with a dispute related to these Streaming Terms and Conditions, your use of the Platform and any connected matters.
No Waiver
If Knowledge Network fails to exercise one of its rights or privileges under these Streaming Terms and Conditions, that does not mean that we cannot exercise that, or any other, right or privilege in the future.
Severability
If any provisions of these Streaming Terms and Conditions are found to be invalid or unenforceable, then such invalid provisions will be replaced with provisions that most closely match the intent of the original provisions while still being valid and enforceable, and the rest of the Streaming Terms and Conditions will continue to be in effect.
Entire Agreement
These Streaming Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and Knowledge Network with respect to your use of the Platform. If you previously entered into an agreement with Knowledge Network with respect to the use of the Platform, that prior agreement is now cancelled and these Streaming Terms and Conditions will apply instead.
Enurement
These Streaming Terms and Conditions are binding on and apply to both you and Knowledge Network. If someone else, such as an as heir, executor, or administrator, takes over your obligations or Knowledge Network's responsibilities under these Streaming Terms and Conditions, the Streaming Terms and Conditions will be binding on that person as well.
Compliance with Laws
Nothing in these Streaming Terms and Conditions prohibits the Knowledge Network from complying with applicable laws, governmental regulations and requests from law enforcement relating to your use of the Platform or the information you provide to Knowledge Network through the Platform.
Language of these Streaming Terms and Conditions

Knowledge Network uses third-party social media platforms to promote our programming and initiatives as well as interact and engage with our viewers. Unfortunately, we cannot control how those social media platforms collect, store and/or use your Personal Information. In other words, our standard Personal Information Safeguards do not necessarily protect any Personal Information posted on, or collected by, any social media platform. Because of this, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of each social media platform you use. To protect your own privacy, and the privacy of others, we also ask that you do not include anyone’s Personal Information, including phone numbers, email addresses and pictures, in the body of any comments you leave on our social media pages or posts.
