Anne O’Shea
Story Time
Stories have always been a big part of Anne O’Shea’s life. Working as a librarian for close to 20 years, she obviously loves books, but she gets the same sense of excitement from documentary films. “To me, a library is all about potential and the opportunity to share stories and learn things, and those are actually the same things that I love about Knowledge,” she says.
Anne, an avid kayaker who lives in Nanaimo with her wife, daughter, cat, and two pups, including Hazel, a Bernese Mountain Dog, enjoys spending time in nature. So it’s no surprise that some of her favourite shows on Knowledge are docs that feature both the beauty and the risks inherent in BC’s great outdoors, like North Shore: Search and Rescue and This Mountain Life. Having busy lives, she and her partner seldom watch live TV, but in the evenings they like to open the Knowledge app and dive into a good documentary.
As both a Partner and a member of the Knowledge Board, Anne understands how vital it is to have a resource that offers insightful local perspectives and trustworthy information. “It’s so important for us to have a really well-funded and vibrant public television network here in BC. Whether we’re streaming it or watching it on TV, the opportunity to see unfiltered stories that come from the public and aren’t driven by commercial interests is critical right now in our society.”
